Athlete DUI Update: Josh Gordon and Ronnie Brewer

As you probably are well aware, athletes are notorious for getting DUIs. Many athlete DUIs pop up in the news on a regular basis. Here are a a few updates involving sports stars and their drunk driving arrests.

Josh Gordon DWI Case Delayed

Josh Gordon of the Cleveland Browns is going to have to wait even longer before he can put his North Carolina DWI arrest behind. His case got delayed until November 18. Gordon was arrested in Raleigh, North Carolina back in July. Apparently, police spotted him driving at 50 mph in a 35 zone. Gordon blew a .09 percent on the breathalyzer test and was arrested. It turns out that Gordon was actually driving a vehicle belong to PJ Hairston of the Charlotte Hornets. Apparently, the two swapped vehicles in a parking lot in Chapel Hill earlier in the day.

Gordon’s attorney, Trey Fitzhugh, appeared in court on his behalf on Tuesday, August 26. Gordon is also waiting for a response from the NFL after he appealed their decision to suspend him for a year for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Ronnie Brewer Sentenced

The former forward for the Chicago Bulls has been sentenced for his February DUI. Ronnie Brewer will be facing three years probation after he pleaded no contest to drunk driving charges in Beverly Hills, CA on Tuesday, August 26.

Brewer was arrested at a traffic stop on February 19 on Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive. Apparently his blood alcohol concentration was .15 percent, almost twice the legal limit in California.

In addition to his probation, Brewer must also attend alcohol abuse classes as well as 10 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Brewer is also required to pay $390 in fines.
