Tito Ortiz Pleads No Contest


MMA Fighter Tito Ortiz has pleaded no contest to DUI charges and has managed to avoid mandatory jail time for his DUI arrest that occurred back in January.

Ortiz had initially pleaded not guilty to DUI charges, but he changed his plea to no contest. As a result, Ortiz was sentenced to 36 months probation and is required to participate in an alcohol education program. He is also required to pay some pretty expensive fines.

Ortiz was arrested back in January after he crashed his 2012 Porsche Panamera in the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles. He took a blood alcohol concentration test where he blew a .12 percent. The legal limit is .08 percent. According to TMZ, Ortiz had been coming from the Playboy Mansion.

Derrick Randall Arrested for DUI

Pittsburgh center Derrick Randall was arrested for a DUI near Rutgers University on Tuesday morning (April 29, 2014.) Randall had originally played for Rutgers before he transferred to Pittsburgh.

Apparently, Randall had been driving with his lights off, so officers pulled him over. After an investigation, it was revealed that Randall was under the influence.

According to ‘The Bergen Record’, Randall was also charged with the use of “a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.” HIs passenger was also charged with possession.

Pitt coach Jamie Dixon issued the following in a press release:

“The incident involving Derrick Randall is not only surprising, but incredibly disappointing. Although I believe it was out of character for Derrick, he has been indefinitely suspended.”
