Lynn Anderson, a country singer who rose to fame in 1970, has been arrested for a DUI. This is Anderson’s second DUI since 2004 which means she could be facing serious consequences depending on the details of her case.

On Thursday, September 11, in Nashville, Tennessee, police responded to a crash that occurred on West End Avenue at around 9 pm. They found Anderson behind the wheel where she showed “signs of impairment”.

According to her arrest warrant, Anderson admitted to taking prescription medication and drinking alcohol before getting behind the wheel.

Anderson was later released from Metro jail on Friday morning on a $5,000 bond. She is due to appear in court on November 20.

In a statement issued by her manager, Michael Dempsy, Anderson was “deeply sorry for anyone that I have harmed along this path.”

“I apologize for the choices I made and subsequent actions on Thursday evening that ultimately resulted in the accident,” her statement continued. “By the grade of God, I am very grateful that no one was injured as a result. I am committed to the accountable steps that I will be facing on the road to recovery.”

Lynn Anderson is widely considered one of the most successful country singers of the 1970’s. She rose to fame with her hit, “(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden” which earned her a Grammy Award. The song ranks on the “100 Greatest Songs in Country Music History”. Anderson continues to tour in the US and Canada.

Anderson was previously arrested for drinking and driving in Denton, Texas in 2004. Apparently, police found her passed out in her car on the side of the road.
