David Cassidy

‘The Partridge Family’ star David Cassidy has multiple DUIs under his belt. The former teen heartthrob suffers from alcoholism and has been in the news numerous times for making the poor choice of driving under the influence.

Cassidy appeared in court in Schodack, New York today, September 4, 2014, for a DUI arrest that occurred almost a year ago. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI charges, as opposed to felony DUI charges.

Cassidy left the court house after his hearing, giving a thumbs up, saying, “I’m not going to prison. That’s a good thing.”

Could you even imagine David Cassidy in jail?

However, Cassidy does have to face a few penalties. According to Michael Shanley, the Assistant District Attorney in Rensselaer County, Cassidy must face “50 hours of community service. He’s forced to have have ignition over lock, which is basically a breathalyzer installed in your car.”

Cassidy is also required to seek treatment for his alcoholism, which he already started.

“It’s a disease that affects hundreds of millions of people around the world,” Cassidy stated.

Shanley commended Cassidy for taking responsibility for his actions.

“The fact that he appeared here personally and pled guilty and took responsibility in person after completing treatment indicates he’s accepting this just as anybody else would,” Shanley stated.

Perhaps Cassidy is ready to take control of his alcoholism and put this DUI case behind him.

“I’m just happy it’s over. Or almost over,” Cassidy stated. “I didn’t hit anybody. I didn’t smash my cars. I had my bright lights on. That’s why I got pulled over.”
