It looks like 2014 is not getting off to a good start for one celebrity athlete.

Erin Henderson, the linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings, was arrested for his second DUI on January 1, 2014.

Apparently, Henderson was driving his black SUV through Carver County, MN when his car skidded off the road onto a parking lot and then ran into a few trees. According to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office, the front of Henderson’s car was “heavily damaged”.

Police suspected Henderson to be under the influence and proceeded to give him a field sobriety test. Henderson must’ve not done so well because he was later arrested for a DUI. Henderson also refused to submit to a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) test. In many states, if you refuse a BAC test, you may face additional charges.

Henderson was booked into the Carver County Jail around 3:03 AM central time but was later released after posting a $12,000 bail. He’s scheduled to appear in court on March 3, 2014.

The Vikings issued the following statement:

“We are aware of the matter involving Erin Henderson. We are continuing to gather information and will have further comment at the appropriate time.”

Henderson is facing second and third degree DWI charges and a BAC test refusal charge. He is also being charged with possessing a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well as violating his driver’s license suspension.

Henderson was previously arrested on November 19, 2013 for driving while intoxicated. However, his attorney, David Valentini has filed a petition of judicial review for Henderson to maintain his driving privileges. We’ll see if that’s still in the works…
