Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts, has officially gotten his license suspended as a result of his DUI arrest.

Irsay was arrested for drunk driving on March 16, 2014 in Carmel, Indiana. Police witnessed him driving super slow and failing to use a turn signal. He was pulled over and police suspected him to be under the influence.

Irsay failed several field sobriety tests, and police reported finding several empty pill bottles in his car.

Irsay had always been quite open about his addiction to prescription medication, saying that his dependence on pills started after undergoing several orthopedic operations in 2002.

Irsay has kept a low profile since his arrest. He is currently facing two misdemeanor charges including driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance. He could possibly be required to spend 60 days in jail if convicted of these crimes. However, criminal defense attorney Jeff Mendes believes that won’t likely be the case.

“From what I know of Mr. Irsay’s background he’s probably going to get, if he takes a plea to one of these charges, he’ll just get probation.”

Irsay’s license got suspended because he refused to take a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) test during his arrest. It’s typically illegal to refuse these tests when you’re arrested for a DUI. You can get your license suspended even if you are found innocent of drinking and driving.

Despite his license suspension and possible probation, Irsay has yet to be punished by the NFL. The NFL is currently revising its policy when it comes to players and executives getting arrested for a DUI.
