A Minnesota celeb is facing DUI charges. If you’re signing up for health insurance in the state, you’ve probably heard of Scott Leitz.

Yes, Mr. Leitz, the interim CEO of MNsure, is facing DUI charges from an arrest that occurred back in August.

Leitz was arrested on August 17, 2014 in Minneapolis. He was pulled over for speeding and reckless driving near South Sixth Street and Portland Avenue. His blood alcohol content measured more than twice the legal limit in Minnesota.

“I consider this one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made,” Leitz said in an e-mail statement. “It is humiliating it and, as with any mistake, I will learn from it and will not repeat it.”

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton as well as MNsure board members still support Leitz for the work he’s done to get Minnesotans to sign up for health insurance.

MNsure board spokesperson said that the board was aware of Leitz’s DUI arrest when they hired him.

“Since we appointed him in mid-December, MNsure has turned a corner,” stated MNsure Chairman Brian Beutner and Vice Chairman Peter Benner. “Under his leadership the MNsure website has stabilized, the consumer experience has improved and his communication has been open and transparent. We value his leadership as we continue to make progress for Minnesotans.”

Leitz has pleaded to not guilty to drunk driving as well as not guilty to his alleged traffic violations. If he convicted of a DUI, he may have to pay a $1,000 fine and spend up to 90 days in jail.
