Amanda Bynes is back in the news regarding her DUI case. Today, January 7, 2014, her attorney met with Judge Edward Moreton Jr. to set a new pre-trial hearing for February 20, 2014.

Back in November, a judge deemed Bynes competent to stand trial for her DUI case. Her attorney didn’t talk to any reporters outside the courthouse, but a source says that they are trying to put together a plea deal.

Bynes pleaded not guilty to drinking and driving. She was arrested on April 6, 2012 after hitting a police cruiser with her car. She was also involved in two more hit-and-run incidents in 2012 but managed to get her misdemeanor charges dropped after civil settlements were reached with the victims.

Bynes was later charged with driving on a suspended license in September 2012 near the Burbank airport. She pleaded no contest this charge and received three years probation.

Bynes has been out of psychiatric care since November and is currently living with her parents in Thousand Oaks, CA under a conservatorship. Bynes was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

It seems like Bynes is doing a lot better. A source told Daily News, “She’s doing really well. If she stays on her program, she’ll be fine.” Bynes attends outpatient treatment sessions and has enrolled in classes at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Irvine, CA.

“She’s made great strides in her progress,” Bynes’ mom’s lawyer Tamar Arminak told Daily News last month.

What do you think? Are we going to see a new and improved Amanda Bynes someday soon?
